Princess Diana Memorial Playground

located in Kensinton Gardens, it was made in Diana's memory in 2000, she loved children and it's near her home, Kensington Palace. Its' probably the best playground in the world.

a huge wooden pirate ship is the amazing centrepiece

There is the huge pirate ship with crows nest, sandy white beach, mermaids fountain, water garden, rock garden, sound garden, sculpture park, sensory trail, teepee's, tree house encampment...

splish splash, cool down a bit

chime bells to stamp on

These are all props to capture kids imagination and "escape the sterility of brightly coloured steel and plastic traditional playgrounds". Truly innovative

bloody noisy garden

There is a cafe doing freshly made stone baked pizza, coffee bar and clean toliets.
It can get pretty busy on sunny weekends , there are lots of security staff and a long queue to get in.

fun for big kids too

Only adults accompanied by children can enter, something the throngs of the elderly American tourist didn’t know. At first dismayed and then slightly embarrassed, it’s a kids playground after all, not a cheap tourist attraction, they shuffle away.
I suggest Diana Memorial Fountain, just on the other side of Hyde park, this cheers them up a bit and off they go to remember their Princess, Diana Princess of Wales 1961 - 1997.
