Wholly Herb

Just outside Cocking in Sussex, The West Dean Gardens host the Wholly Herb Festival.
We come here every year for the massive chilli fest held in August.
Having a new patio garden we need to fill it with herbs. Nice small plants you can eat.

I soon realise I don't know much about herbs. I mean Basil and Thyme I can do, Loveage and Dandelion both have space in my cupborad, but White Horehound? Tansy? Feverfew?

I was finding it hard to look intelligent and knowledgeable, so I made Thames pick some

"whats it Daddy" "thats a ...herb son"

"here ya go mummy"

Thames made a good job of it. Getting Strawberry, Purple Basil, French Lavender, Lemon Verbena which has the most amazing lemony smell, I just had to keep smelling it and some Red Daisy's. Meanwhile I concentrated on the food.

Oats?

get off me breads

I had whitebait, corinder chicken, and a herb fritter. All cooked on site by Sophie Grigson
